St Joseph's Primary School recognises the traditional owners of the area, the Woromi people.
St Joseph’s Dungog is a single stream, K to 6, systemic Catholic primary school in the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese. The school has strong links to the Sisters of St Joseph – who commenced teaching here in 1888. The school draws students from a wide area - including the Dungog, Vacy, Stroud, Martin’s Creek, Clarence Town & Salisbury areas.
Learning at St Joseph’s takes place in very modern, air-conditioned classrooms – each equipped with the latest in technology and providing a well – resourced learning environment for the children in our care.
The motto of our school is - “God Is Love”. This motto is expressed through the Christian values demonstrated in our school life, our involvement within the local and broader community and throughout the curriculum taught each day. Our school is very proud of the high level of support we provide to and receive from the local community.
St Joseph’s Dungog has embraced Pope Francic’s environmental message to the world of Laudato Si:
by raising awareness in our students through practical and attitude altering practices that are taught in various ways-from raising money to support the Mini-Vinnies cause, to completing in the earth hour challenge and growing plants from seed to add to our school fruit and vegetable garden.
The students of St Joseph’s participate in a comprehensive school curriculum – providing programs to cater for the broad range of student abilities – from the gifted to those who require additional support in order to cater for their needs. Students also have many opportunities and pathways to represent the school, region and Diocese in a variety of sports (team and individual), in Public Speaking, Debating and varied other activities.
The school has a dedicated and committed parent body who have supported the school in a wide variety of activities, Generous financial support and the provision of time and expertise in a wide variety of areas have been both enjoyed and appreciated by the St Joseph’s School community over the years. Attendance at the regular PEG (Parent Engagement Group) meetings is encouraged – as is the involvement of parents and friends at the wide variety of activities held during the year.
On behalf of the staff and students, I welcome you to St Joseph’s Primary School, Dungog, and look forward to a long, happy and supportive relationship with you and your family.
God bless,
Lisa McNeilly
Principal
